As a Plater/Boilermaker for over 30 years in Kilbirnie, North Ayrshire, Chris was involved with the fabrication of bridges, oil rigs and many other heavy engineering projects. However, with the demise of the industry in the late '80s, a change of direction was required. With his industrial skills combined with an eye for traditional and contemporary design, Orna-Metal was born in 1995.

From his workshop at the former Glengarnock steelworks site, Chris, in partnership with his wife Joan, continues to produce handmade iron goods crafted to the highest standard and quality.
